This final fire doesn’t rage. It glows. These years are not about fading, but refining. What’s unnecessary drops away. What was always true remains.

Creating the artwork for Gateway 7 was a deeply transformative experience — both artistically and personally. The chapter’s themes of solitude, spiritual return, and quiet reclamation in the later stages of life resonated profoundly with me. I was especially moved by how this gateway redefines solitude. It is not seen as isolation. Instead, it is a sacred space for wisdom, reflection, and soulful integration after a life of noise and striving.
In my illustration, I leaned into minimalism and subtle, hand-drawn details to reflect that inward shift. A central figure holds a sunflower — a symbol of peace, renewal, and quiet hope. In the background, the same figure stands beside the shed skin of their former self. They are still holding the flower. This symbolizes resilience, transformation, and rebirth after enduring life’s deeper trials.

It’s where life finally makes sense.”
This piece reaffirmed for me how powerful visual storytelling can be. It is powerful not only in what it reveals, but also in what it allows the viewer to feel. It reminded me that endings don’t close the story — they return us to what mattered all along.
Gateway 7 will always stay with me as a quiet yet powerful reminder: even the final chapters hold sacred beginnings.
